Anyone who knew Cliff Redford as a boy would hardly be surprised at his choice of career. Pets and animals played a huge part in his life as far as he can remember, and he always wanted to be a veterinarian. In 1998, he graduated from one of the world’s top veterinary schools, the Ontario Veterinary College. And 18 months later, he purchased Wellington Veterinary Hospital in Markham, ON, Canada. He remains an accredited member of The College of Veterinarians of Ontario.

Since then, he has immersed himself in the welfare of animals with soft tissue surgery, advanced dental procedures, internal medicine and emergency care. Known simply as Dr. Cliff to his clients, he tends to his furry patients through all stages of their lives. However, his passion for animal welfare extends well beyond the clinic and domestic pets. He regularly volunteers with local and international organizations where he extends care to all kinds of animals, including hawks, owls, porcupines, monkeys, snakes, skunks and more.

In recent years, Dr. Cliff has given visibility to the volunteer work on his YouTube channel, Dr. Cliff Worldwide Vet. Using it as a platform to engage with and educate his audience, he travels across the world and works side by side with local staff at community-based organizations that carry out animal rescues, adoptions, advocacy and wildlife conservation. He now dedicates half his vacation time to these endeavours, where he advances his own knowledge by learning from veterinarians who often work with limited supplies and under the most unimaginable of circumstances.

Dr. Cliff has a home full of pets, where Thalia, his Labradoodle, has become his jogging companion. In addition to being a veterinarian, husband and father, he is also a guitar player, martial arts expert, surfer and intrepid podcaster. Listen to The Dr. Cliff Podcast on Anchor, to catch him conversing with unusually interesting people who have overcome challenges and continue to chase their passions.

He is sought after by national media for his opinion and thoughts on animal-related stories and segments, and his favourite sign off, which is also the motto he lives by, is “Be Kind To Animals!
